Fan Pens Song for Green Lantern Movie

Of all the upcoming/announced/rumoured superhero movies, Green Lantern has the potential to offer something truly unique. But most of us are content to speculate exactly how Ryan Reynold’s computer-generated costume will work and whether Guy Gardner, Kilowog et al will make appearances, independent musician and comic fan Gary Mitchell is pushing to contribute to the movie.

Gary’s written an original song, ‘In Brightest Day,’ that he’s currently promoting online in the hopes that someone at Warner Bros. will take notice. Described as featuring “hard hitting guitar riffs, rock solid groove and exhilarating energy, “In Brightest Day” is the perfect GL anthem, exalting themes of courage, perseverance and will power in the midst of impossible challenges, perfect to appeal to fans and non comic fans alike.”

And by the power of Youtube, below is a music video of the song itself, which is equal parts end credits theme and Rocky-style training montage accompaniment. The tune does a very good job at capturing Hal Jordan’s eternal optimism, too.

Like the song? Then pop over to Gary’s Myspace and Facebook pages at http://www.myspace.com/greenlanternsong and http://www.facebook.com/greenlanternsong, respectively, and spread the word.

Carl Doherty has written about movies, video games, comic books and literature for almost a decade, forging ill-informed critiques for numerous websites, blogs and publications that no one has ever heard of. His debut novel, the epic fantasy comedy Welcome to The Fold, is available now on Kindle here (UK) and here (US).
