The Wolverine Trailer Holds Eastern Promise

The Wolverine trailer debuted a few days ago, and for the most part seems to have quashed the generally negative buzz that had built up around James Mangold’s upcoming effort.

A dodgy looking train fight aside, this definitely has the potential to be a leaner, more focused X-movie. Viper’s (Svetlana Khodchenkova) inclusion seems somewhat redundant, but the Japanese scenery and ninja/samurai tropes should make for a different kind of Wolverine movie than Origins, which struggled to find its own identity and ended up a convoluted, charmless and pointless prequel. The Wolverine might just be a pleasant surprise, even if it will likely lack the scope and spectacle of Iron Man 3.
